Team Building

Earlier this week, my boss sent an invitation to my team at work for a “team building” meeting on Friday afternoon. My first thought was dread! I hate team building activities. I looked closer at the invitation, and noticed that the meeting was to be held at the Memorial Union , which is an outdoor terrace on one of the lakes. It’s really a great setting for hanging out and people watching. That meant we were going to leave the office early and sit at the student union to have a few “beverages.”

After a couple hours of chillaxing, our festivities seemed to be winding down and everyone was thinking about heading home for the evening. One of my coworkers suggested we go sailing on his sailboat. Hmm, sure, why not!

It turned out to be a beautiful evening to be on the water.

  1. What fun! I have to say that I have dreaded pretty much every team building event I have ever had to participate in (and with good reason — competing in groups putting together jigsaw puzzles, only to have our groups mixed up and moved mid-solve, etc.). This sounds nice!

  2. Wow, what a great evening it turned out to be, thank goodness! I can only imagine how nice it was out there on the water. And congrats on your new computer! So many new things to learn, but so fun.

  3. Dear Terri, i too dislike team building activities which my company will organize once a year. But im glad you had a good time and that place looks gorgeous! Such fun and love those photos! Have a lovely merry happy day and love to you!

  4. Glad your team-building meeting turned out okay! I think any excuse to get out on the lake is a good one! We did a lot of boating/waterskiing years ago…still regret selling the boat!
