Holiday Spirit

There’s nothing like a Christmas tree to trigger your holiday spirit and brighten the mood of your house. We have a living room and a family room, and lots of ornaments, so I like to put up two trees. The tree in our front living room is extra special because it is decorated mostly with glass balls, ornaments and garland from Dave’s mom, who passed away about 12 years ago. I have added a few antiques from my family too.

The Christmas tree in our family room has a lot of handmade ornaments I’ve made or received from friends and family over the years, including a treasured collection made by my Grandma since I was a kid. Now each room feels magical and festive. Even Dave likes hanging out in those rooms without a TV on!

I felt like that tree in our family room needed more pizzazz so I bought a shiny red garland to add to it. The only problem is I haven’t been able to get Callie off the new garland!

My friend Tami in Colorado gave me this mini Christmas tree a few years ago as part of an exchange, so it’s nice to have this for a nightlight on our dresser. I keep adding little bows and tiny ornaments to it each year.

The tradition of decorating for Christmas really adds to the magic of the season, putting us in that holiday spirit. I sincerely hope each and every one of you has a Merry Christmas!

  1. Such pretty trees! And they have a special meaning to you. I like that:) Hope you got Callie to give up the garland!
Merry Christmas to you, too, Terri!

  2. Aww…thanks for sharing your decorations with us! I love that your decorations have such a special meaning! I can’t believe it’s Christmas Eve Eve!! Have a great holiday with your family!!!

  3. Kallie is so beautiful; I never realized before how much tiger coloring her coat has! I’m not taking my tree down for a week; how ’bout you?

  4. Terri: I’m in the new quilt bee with you, One Block Over. An e-mail I sent out to you earlier in the month was returned. Could you send me an e-mail, please, at calicodaisy (at) gmail (dot) com, so I can be sure to get it right? I’ve got my fabrics packaged up to send out on Monday for the January block. Thanks! — michele

  5. Your 3 trees are just beautiful. I like the idea that you grouped your ornaments in a certain way that had meaning to you and your husband. The decorating turned out lovely. Your little cat is funny the way she thinks the red garland is a mat just for her!
