Enjoying the Sunshine

I don’t have a lot of progress to show for my weekend, except for this string-pieced mini quilt I started.

I cut up a lot of my Sis Boom fabric scraps into strips and started piecing them together to make another pillow cover. I love how colorful it’s turning out.

In between the piecing, we are enjoying a streak of sunshine around here, which is wonderful because it seems like we’ve had a gray winter so far.

As you can see, we still have a lot of snow on the ground in our yard.

I’m hoping all this sunshine will start melting those layers of snow. I am really starting to get the itch for spring, dreaming of seeing grass again and watching my bulbs start to peak up through the thawing ground. Hope you are enjoying your Valentine’s Day too!

  1. I love the string blocks! I’m itching to make another string pieced anything. Your spring-y colors are so fun and happy. (They make me think my next should be a preppy pink and green!)

AND I can’t imagine that much snow. I’m a southern girl born and bred and snow is still very, very unsettling to me. We’ve had nothing compared to what you guys get every year…and I’m still not totally ok with our 5-6 inches. I guess I’m just a wuss 🙂

  2. Love the colors in that fabric. Can’t wait to see it finished. I also wan’t to say the little bag was really cute. Keep up the good work. Love to see what your up to. I also am ready for spring. Today is bitter cold yesterday was sunny.

  3. I love the string blocks! I love JP’s fabrics, too. Great combination!
We’ve got snow here again but the sun is shining so that makes it a little better. Thanks for the springy colors:)

    1. Thanks Erica! Jennifer’s fabrics are always fun to work with because of all that color. I did paper piece these blocks, starting with a 4.5 inch square of white copier paper, then laid a white fabric strip down the center, then sewed my strips to the raw edges of the previous strip until the paper was covered to the corners. Iron, trim the edges off, and tear the perforated paper strips from the back. Very easy and meditative!

  4. Sis Boom really lends itself to string quilting, and string quilt blocks are perfect for pillows! No small project for a cold week-end; is that for the shop? BTW, your back yard is beautiful! Have a great week!!
