I have tried to resist buying every new fabric collection this year. But there was something about Sandi Henderson‘s new Meadowsweet 2 collection that I loved, especially that print on the right with the mix of berry and salmon colors. They remind me of the fall colors we are starting to see as our gardens and landscapes change. I have always adored her Henna prints too (sneak peaks here in raspberry and grey).
I try not to blabber on too much around here about patchwork projects for my shop, but I’m so excited about all the new products I’ve been making lately.
I made several patchwork bags with these gorgeous fabrics, along with a few other fabrics from my stash just to stretch the stash further.
I thought a new party purse would be nice to offer. That’s the bag in the front of each of these photos.
I named it a party purse because everytime we go to a party or a concert or a festival, and I don’t want to carry my day purse, I end up filling my pockets and my husband’s pockets with my stuff! I really don’t like doing that, so I decided to make one to fit my needs, thinking there might be others out there with my same issues.
It measures about 10 inches wide and 6 inches tall, has a pocket inside to hide your id and money, and a strap for slinging over your shoulder, just long enough to tuck under your arm. Notice the little embroidery details? (see close-up here)
I also made new project bags (that’s the version in the back of these photos), similar to those clear plastic ones you get from quilt shops and quilt retreats, but prettier, in my opinion. I’m just saying.
These project bags measure about 10 inches wide and 7 inches tall, perfect to hold your needle case, scissors, hand sewing supplies, rotary cutter or whatever you travel with, and have a pocket inside to store your small, loose items like a box of pins or stitch markers for knitting.
I am happy these are finally listed since I think they will be nice additions to my collection for Fall.
I used up almost all of these fat quarters, so I’m debating on whether I need to order a few more, you know, just in case another idea comes up. (wink wink)

Love your bags. I really love your choice of fabrics. I guess I have not seen that line of fabric yet but I do like it . Love it really. Great colors bright and cheery. Another line of greatness from a wonderful person. Keep it up.
Oh I do love those bags! I am especially fond of the berry colored ones.
And I’m sure another idea will come up soon, so you better go ahead & make sure you’ll have those fat quarters on hand when it does!! 😉

Meadowsweet is a favorite of mine although I’ve never bought it. I really like the vertical strips and quilting lines. The extra embroidery details make it unique!
Those are beautiful, especially the berry-colored ones. and especially with the embroidery touches. That big floral was one of my favorites in the Meadowsweet II line, although I have finally collected at least a yard in every single colorway of Henna Garden, new and old!
Sandi Henderson and especially her Henna fabric is for me, like Chocolate Lollipop is for you! I love the party purse idea, and nice touch with the embroidery details!
These are gorjuss Terri – I love that you share your shop and related projects on here! I think you are definitely justified in getting some more stash for those inspiration moments. Really love the embroidery detailing that you are adding.
These bags are so great! And can I say that I’m right there with you on Meadowsweet? When I first saw it online I thought, “Meh. Nothing special.” But every time we get a new bolt of really cute fabric into the shop where I work, I swear to you that it’s Meadowsweet! There’s something about the colors and the different patterns and scales that are so fabulous. I think it’s because they all look so great together and produce so many different looks without being super matchy-matchy. It’s working out great in your bags!
Don’t you dare hold back with the news regarding what your doing for the shop! It is always so interesting and inspiring!

We have Meadowsweet and I’m OBsessed with the butterflies. I can’t explain why…I’m not usually a butterfly type person, but they’re cute! I really like the detail stitching on the bags, is that top-stitching weight thread?
Thanks Joanna! I made these bags right after I quit my job, so it was fun to have all day to work on them. For the detail stitching on the bags, I used DMC thread and did the stitching by hand. ~Terri

Oh those “Berry” coloured bags in the first photo are beautiful. The colour combination just makes me want to eat them!!! That is a good thing,though real berries would be so much nicer.
