I am finally caught up with the last block of 2010 for my quilting bee. Nettie requested house blocks using the cutest selection of fabric scraps, which are going to make quite an adorable fairy tale-themed quilt.
I’ve never made a wonky house block, or even a house block, so this was a good challenge for me. Since I don’t do a lot of wonky sewing, I hope this is wonky enough for Nettie’s taste. That’s the beauty of a quilting bee, you get to try new techniques that you wouldn’t normally try on your own.
Looks wonky good to me. The fabrics are really colorful.
I love patchwork houses. Your house block looks fantastic I’m sure she is going to love it! The little pigs in the center are adorable. 🙂
That’s a really cute wonky house block – I love the toadstool fabric and you even managed to encorporate a sleeping beauty. I’m sure Nettie will be delighted with it.
Very nice and I love the piggies in the center–couldn’t get any priceless than that:)
I love it! So adorably wonky and sweet! I don’t think I’ve seen that kind of wonky house yet. Did you use a tute?
Thanks Joanna! It was a fun block to make. Nettie pointed us to the quilt that inspired her, which also has a tutorial on flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/krom_mama/sets/72157619156550978/
I think it’s adorable! I love the three little pigs inside! nice touch! Houses, bird houses, nests… all those themes appeal to me. Must be my own nesting instincts!!
Great job!
This is really wonderfu and fonky block! I love all the sweet fabrics you have used…and always houses as you know!
