I have never been very good at keeping up with quilt-alongs. But this project caught my attention.
I love the simplicity of the design. I love the drama it creates.
At first, I considered making that orange version, since we have a blank wall in our guest room that needs a splash of color.
Instead, I thought it would be more refreshing to make a wall hanging inspired by the colors of the ocean.
So far, I have my fabrics picked out and cut. This week, I’m looking forward to seeing the instructions for piecing.
This is the beginning of my efforts to keep my sanity during the latter part of winter, by working on small non-homework projects that I can actually keep up with and stay positive and inspired.
I have that flower print–I heart it:)
Those blues are so calming and that is a great way to decorate a room;) Thanks for the idea:) When people come over you can say that you MADE it–how cool is that?!!
It looks like fun and you picked GREAT colors! With spring around the corner I’m TOTALLY itching for a beach trip. I don’t even care that it is too cold…the ocean just soothes my soul 🙂 As for keeping up with the quilt along…I’m kind of an all or nothin’ sewer. I’m either ALL in and it gets finished quickly or it sits forever. I’m not so good at the “little by little” thing! Good luck and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!
I think the ocean colors are lovely and calming. Very relaxing. The orange color was very vibrant, but had a lot of energy that isn’t at all calming…. can’t wait to see what you put together!!
Hello Terri! It’s going to be wonderful with those ocean colours! I love the flower fabric!
Have a lovely week! Teje
Blue will be very serene for a bedroom. I’m a sucker for blue anything!
I’m glad you found an interesting project to work on. Sending hugs for winter sanity!!
Good plan! Isn’t it amazing how everything gets buried under the homework? And I’m only taking one class right now. Can’t believe you can manage any projects with a full course load!
You call that small! I call a mug rug small lol 🙂
What a great project to lift your spirits and the colours you picked out are perfect – what better than a reminder of the ocean – I could sit and wave watch for hours.
Looking forward to following your progress so be sure to keep us updated!
Beautiful! I saw this quilt-along but I’m doing (yikes!) the Single Girl. I hope I can keep up with it…it looks intense. Anyway, your beachy colors are beautiful!
I like the blue colors. That is my favorite color. It is very calming.
I can’t wait to see it finished. I have two baby quilts to get done so can’t join this one.
New grandbaby due in June and my niece is due in March. Must get busy!!!
this one is going to be pretty! i love the focus on color!
I love the blues too! It’s going to be beautiful and have such a calming effect to your room 🙂
Can’t wait to see the end result!

I love the colors you picked out. It’s my favorite! Reminds me of the ocean. The orange quilt is so simple and stunning. Can’t wait to see your finished quilt. No rush. I know you have a full schedule.
