A Sewing Commission: Doll Bedding

Last fall, my mom asked me to make a set of bedding for antique doll furniture for my step-sister’s daughter. I didn’t have a lot of time to sew last semester, so I was thrilled to be able to work on this over a couple months.

This doll bed was part of a set of antique furniture, which also included a rocking chair, bench, armoire and table. I started out by making a bed skirt because it’s nice to get a little fancy when playing dolls.

I made a mattress using plain muslin fabric and foam pads.

I made a pillow, pillowcase and a sheet.

Then I had to made a second set so she would have more to play with.

Finally, I made a little doll quilt to top it off.

I remember how much fun I had as a little girl playing with dolls and furniture like this, so it’s a great feeling to be a part of that experience for someone else’s little girl.

Thank you for stopping by.
