Storytelling Series: Meet the Painted Lady
Welcome to the next edition of my storytelling series introducing you to the creatures in my stationery field guide collections. Today, I decided to feature the Painted Lady Butterfly.
The Painted Lady butterfly is sometimes known as the Thistle Butterfly because of its caterpillar’s appetite for thistle. It has also been called the Cosmopolitan because it is the most widespread butterfly in the world. It is often found in open deserts, fields and roadsides. Adults prefer nectar from plants that frown 3-6 feet high, especially thistles, asters and ironweed. It’s actually one of my favorites in my illustrated collection, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in person.
My Painted Lady Butterfly illustration can be found on notecards,

Stay tuned for a future storytelling series from a field guide to leaves and fish. Thanks for stopping by.
