Surface Pattern Design Summer School: Part 1

I am taking a summer surface design course sponsored by Make It In Design. Every two weeks participants are given a brief that outlines the theme and provides some inspiration and examples of uses for the surface designs.

The first brief was Tropical Paradise, so I thought of Hawaii, palm trees, bird of paradise flowers, wearing a hibiscus flower in my hair, and, of course, the ocean.

Tropical Paradise design

I thought my tropical paradise surface pattern would be fun to have on a shower curtain, throw pillows for the porch, pillowcases, or beach towels.

Stay tuned because the theme for Part 2 is quite fun too.

  • I like it blown up big in the top picture… I think that would look fab on a shower curtain 😊 I also really love the tone on tone background and then the pops of vibrancy from the foliage and the hibiscus. Great job.
