Hexagon Tote

I’m excited to show you the new patchwork tote bag I made at my annual retreat.

I was inspired by this tote, so I fussy cut 4″ hexagons from a variety of floral fabric scraps. I zig-zag stitched the hexagons together, which isn’t perfect so don’t look too closely at some of the points. 😉 I fused the hexagon patchwork to interfacing and stitched 1/4″ away from the seams with a variegated thread.

I modified my own pattern I created for my Artist Tote, made a flat bottom instead of a gusset/side walls, and made the handle a tad narrower. I used voile from my stash for the lining and pocket. And I stitched a random zig zag on a solid for the back, which I love doing. It measures about 12-1/2″ wide by 9″ high. After making a few tote bags lately, I decided that a 26″ to 28″ long strap is a good length for me.

So fun to make and carry new tote bags these days!
