In order to continue my mission to draw all the time and fill up more sketchbooks in 2016, I came up with a new grid to help me stay on track each week. I’m going to use a grid like this to do daily drawings with a weekly theme, while experimenting with watercolor. At the end of each week, it will be nice to have seven new drawings and a full page illustration.
My first theme is arctic wildlife, with a background wash of light blues.
I have been making a list of themes and things to draw, so this year should be full of more creative challenges. I’m looking forward to bringing my sketchbook pages onto the computer for lots of new digital art this year. Happy drawing!

A weekly theme seems like a great idea and I love how these drawings work together.
Thanks so much, Carol! I’ve found I’m more likely to succeed with daily and weekly drawing challenges if I give myself some parameters or themes, so I think this grid will work well for weekly themes. I’m having fun learning how to draw a variety of wildlife.
Thank you so much for sharing! I love to follow your blog and it gives me really a lot of inspiration. I am norwegian and I also like to draw birds and wildlife. A weekly theme seems like a very good idea! 🙂 I look forward to follow your drawing through 2016!
Thank you so much, Kristine! I really appreciate your comments, and thanks for stopping by my blog too. I’m really having fun learning how to draw animals lately. I think narrowing down what to draw each week by giving myself a weekly theme will help keep me on track to draw as much as possible. Nice to meet you!
