Hand-Lettered Friday: Be Brave

I’ve been practicing my hand-lettering more lately, traditionally and with my digital drawing tablet, so I hoping to share hand-lettered pages from my sketchbook and computer on Fridays.

sketchbook page be brave

The prompt for this page is my theme for 2015, to be brave, to be confident in making more work, sharing it and submitting it to licensing companies.

I’m happy to report this was the very last blank page in my watercolor sketchbook, which I started in 2012. It’s always a great feeling to fill up a sketchbook, another goal of mine in 2015 – to fill up more sketchbooks. I have already started a new sketchbook, which I will share next week.

Hope you enjoy a great weekend!

Hand-Lettered Friday: You Are

I’ve been practicing my hand-lettering more lately, traditionally and with my digital drawing tablet, so I hoping to share hand-lettered pages from my sketchbook and computer on Fridays. My apologies for not posting this theme more regularly! I’ve been busy creating and designing and making art 😉

sketchbook page You Are

The prompt for this page was to write down words to describe your unique traits which can then serve as affirmations and reminders to appreciate who you are. I filled in the page with some of my favorite doodles: flourishes, swirls, leaves, flowers and butterflies. And then added random splashes of color.

Besides adding serifs and swirls to my letters, it was also fun illustrating my cursive writing.

Hope you enjoy a great weekend!

Hand-Lettered Friday

I’ve been practicing my hand-lettering more lately, traditionally and with my drawing tablet, so I thought it would be fun to share my latest hand-lettered page from my sketchbook this fine Friday.

I mentioned the other day that I’m taking Lilla Rogers’ course Make Art That Sells right now, which is the inspiration for this sketchbook page.

make art that sells

A common style I’ve noticed with my hand lettering lately is that I like to add serifs and swirls to my letters 😉

Hope you enjoy a great weekend!

Hand-Lettered Friday

I’ve been practicing my hand-lettering more lately, traditionally and with my drawing tablet, so I thought it would be fun to share a hand-lettered quote this fine Friday to inspire you.

Do what you fear

“Do what you fear and the fear disappears.” – David Schwartz

There are many things I don’t do as an artist because of fear, such as more hand-lettering, using my drawing tablet, showing my work, putting myself out there in the marketplace, and marketing myself and my work. So this print has a little bit of all that!

I experimented with a few fonts, which I actually liked better, but the point of this exercise was to try more hand-lettering, get used to and learn to like my hand-lettering. The background print is a sneak-peak at something else I’m working on these days 😉

Hope you enjoy a great weekend!
