In order to fill up more sketchbooks, which is on my bucket list for 2015, I’m having fun coming up with new drawing prompts, so I’ve been trying to sketch A LOT more lately.
I found another drawing challenge on Instagram that looked fun. So far I’ve only managed to do the “dance” prompt. I wanted to stick with my theme of nature journal drawings, so I thought of birds and their funny mating dances.
I was inspired by the daily and weekly journal pages I see other artists do, so I thought I would try that.
But then I decided my days and weeks aren’t exciting enough to document, so I tried capturing an image that stuck with me from the week, which I really liked doing.
Now I’m thinking it’s more realistic for me to fill up a page a week of random doodles, which is less pressure and more fun to experiment with random ideas.
I finally finished my sunflower frame, which I think I’m going to leave just like this. Once I digitize it, it will be easier to interchange hand-lettered sayings or an array of doodled birds or animals.
This is what I’m working on now – a fancy frame to resemble pressed leaves. I just need to fill in the areas around the frame.
This is why it always seems to take me so long to finish one page – so many ideas! Happy drawing!
Terri
Thanks for sharing your sketchbook pages.
I love your drawing style.
I’m struggling with finding my own, but I wouldn’t mind at all if it ends up resembling yours 🙂
Thanks so much. I really appreciate your comments. I draw a lot, and practice, practice, practice, because I want to get better and develop my own unique style. I hope you are able to practice and develop your own unique style too.
