Signs of Spring: Buds on the Trees

It’s always fascinating to watch buds on the trees open in spring and transform from tiny buds to looking like flowers to unfurling into leaves.

Our trees have been a little slow this year to awaken to spring, so I’ve been anxiously watching for the buds to start to open. Hope you’re out looking for signs of spring!

Art Cards 2011 – Week 17

I continue to be inspired to illustrate the natural world around me, especially as things warm up and come back to life in full color. That’s what I love about spring.

This past week, I smelled the sweet smell of fresh cut grass for the first time in over six months. It really was a sweet smell!

I also noticed the buds on our trees are finally starting to open.

I always struggle with ideas for my journaling on these cards, so I was excited to find a great quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson that fit well with my illustration.

Garden Update

Since our weather is gradually turning warmer, I thought it would be fun to start sharing what’s happening in our gardens as things come back to life again.

I can’t decide if it seems early to have tulips opening, or if everything else is just late because of our cold, wet spring.

One of the most exciting finds to me is the buds starting to open on the trees.

I look forward to finding more blooming treasures in our yard in the days and weeks to come!
