I’m a bit late in getting my art journal updates completed, since I was out of town last weekend, and have been keeping busy with homework and shoveling from the Snowmaggedon we’ve been in lately.
In the beginning of last week, I knew what I was going to feature for my next art journal pages, even though the event hadn’t happened yet. I have been looking forward to Linkin Park perform live for quite a long time.
I made a copy of my ticket so I could use it as ephemera on my card. I layered some cool rock-n-roll paper, zipper trim, and metal studs from my stash.
I was going to illustrate the next card with a scene from the concert, but these cards are so small, and I didn’t like how it turned out. Instead, I used my concert t-shirt for inspiration, painting the background blue with black edges, adding the band’s logo, and stenciling some of my favorite song names that would fit on this little card. I added some sparkly rhinestone bling to represent the suns and stars.
Yes, I can be a bit of a groupie. But in the midst of snowy storms and winter doldrums, it’s good for the soul to have such cool events to journal about!

Weeks 1 and 2
Thank you everyone who played along in sharing five things people might not know about you! It was fun to learn a few of your new secrets.
I am at a loss for words on how to describe the Linkin Park concert I went to over the weekend! I was so thrilled to just be there, soaking in the awesome vibe. I was happy to come home with ringing ears and a sore throat from screaming and singing.
It was an amazing show! They played all of my favorites and my brother’s favorite too.
The band came out with a new CD last fall, so they played some of their new tunes in the middle of the set. It was obvious they have been rehearsing because their performance was better than I imagined it would be. No fluctuations in their voices – every note and scream were in tune and solid. Every single song sounded better than the recorded versions!
We didn’t get tickets to be in the mosh pit because I’m short and would have had trouble seeing in that massive crowd of crazy screaming people.
As a member of the Linkin Park Underground (fan club member), I was able to get us really good seats, where you could see the veins popping when Chester screamed. Aw yea baby!
As you can tell, I snuck in my camera and took a ton of pictures and a recorded a couple videos.
What a rockin fun group of talented guys! I already can’t wait to see them again!
I spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with my brother which was a blast, even though we both had to spend a lot of time doing homework (he’s getting his Masters degree in Business Administration). I love those kinds of weekends!
I’ve had a split-personality kind of week!
Dark side first – I know some of you will think I’m crazy for listening to hard rock music. But I love it. I went to a rock concert earlier this week. It was SO much fun!
Now, on to the lighter side – I have also been diligently sewing this week, working on two custom orders for my shop.
I received a request for a set of patchwork chair pads in a shabby chic style. I love shabby chic style, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to make this set.
I’ve also been working on that handbag for my insurance agent, like the one I made for my mom for Mother’s Day.
I got some new fabrics this week! These Alexander Henry’s Zanzibar are going to be funky new purses for me.
I don’t know what I’m going to use these Little Folks fabrics for yet, but I loved the color combo (and recent coupon) offered by Fabricworm.
I’m really looking forward to the warm, sunny weekend we’re supposed to have so I can’t wait to spend the days outside in our gardens.
Hope you enjoy the weekend too!
