A tea party? Yes, I hosted a ladies’ tea party this weekend! On the invitation list were my mom and her three sisters, three of my cousins, and four of their little girls. The little girls showed up in their adorable princess dresses, cute as can be. How many times have you played tea party as a little girl? I used to get all dressed up and play tea party with my dolls and stuffed animals, so I thought it would be a special treat to host a real live tea party.
On the menu: egg salad and PB&J tea sandwiches, strawberries and blackberries, cheese cubes, Godiva chocolates and biscuits, lemon curd with lemon poppy seed muffins, and, of course, tea.
I bought a piece of fabric at the fabric store to use as a tablecloth since the department stores never have a very good selection. I also bought a floral arrangement on sale at the grocery store, on sale probably because it had evergreens in it, a left over from the holidays.
My husband cleaned the house while I was at the grocery story picking up supplies. My mom arrived early to help me prepare the food and set up beautiful displays. She had great ideas, like putting olives on a toothpick in the egg salad sandwiches and cherries on the PB&J sandwiches. Isn’t that the cutest thing? She also sprinkled cocoa powder and a few chocolate chips over the cups of lemon curd – so pretty.
I made these cute little party favors, filled with mini journals, mini crayons and mini rulers, all for doodling, and mini yoyos, just for fun.
The party was such a hit – I would definitely do this again. I don’t host many parties, but I kept it simple with an easy menu and a small invitation list. With my mom’s help, we managed to keep the stress level down and enjoy the afternoon.

That’s so fun!!! I have to admit that I love tea parties but I don’t have any little friends to share them with.
