New Fabrics Make Me Happy

Thank you for the feedback on my patchwork arrangement poll! I still haven’t decided which one to do, but I will definitely show you the final project. I’m looking forward to seeing what Sew,Mama,Sew has in store for us this week.

When I decided to join in the Bronte-Along, I remembered to have another look at Melissa Averinos’ first fabric collection, Sugar Snap. For some reason, I didn’t buy any of these fabrics when they initially came out. Why, I don’t know. Probably just trying to cut back on fabric purchases.

I decided some fat quarters were a must-have! I already had inspiration in mind, something from this book.

I also didn’t buy any of Laura Gunn‘s Poppy collection when that collection first came out. But I loved the look of them too. Very painterly and artsy.

I already have them cut up, pieced back together, and ready for final assembly as part of my ongoing clutch experiment.

Having these colorful fabrics on my sewing table makes me happy. They are ready to be cut up, rearranged, and patched into something useful and fun. Can’t wait to show you the finished patchwork. Anyone have any current patchwork projects you’re excited about?

  1. Two pretty and interesting fabrics lines that I haven’t purchased yet. I go in phases of trying to cut back, then giving in and making up for it, especially when I find good sales.

I need to get excited about piecing some backs! My pile of finished tops is growing and I need to get those backs made so I can carry them off to the longarm quilter.

  2. poppy is such a pretty collection. i especially like the aqua/red prints.

today i am working on a canopy for aubry’s bed. it’s one of those hula-hoops covered with tulle. she is completely excited about it!

  3. I love those fabrics. I must not be shopping at the right places. I think they would make some nice placemats and napkins. Even a small square topper for the table. Right now I’m in the process of a big move so not so much sewing. My friend and I are trying to finish up our king size scrap happy quilts. Its been alot of fun. Keep up the work.

  4. I cannot wait to see what you do with the Poppy line; everything about it is outstanding! Love, love those thick yellow envelopes in the mailbox. I do a happydance and do not care what the neighbors think!! I have to say, the inspiration on the net this Spring has been particularily spectacular, don’t you think?! May everyone have a sunny, productive week!

  5. I ❤ the Poppy line, so artsy and paintbrushy! I'm already loving your clutches and CANNOT wait to see these guys in clutchy goodness 🙂

  7. Dearest Terri, these fabrics are gorgeous! I am a fan of Melissa Averinos and i too adore her first fabric collection, Sugar Snap! Gorgeous happy colors. I am really looking forward to your lovely new project(s)! Have a lovely merry happy week and love to you!

  8. I bought the Sugar Snap fabrics and used small pieces of them in a little quilt I made for my daughter. It was a flowery tree like design taken from a Piece O’Cake pattern. The bright fabrics were great for a little girl.

I’m looking forward to seeing what someone else does with the fabric!

  9. Oh, my list of must-haves is getting longer! My eyes are bigger than my budget:)

Can’t wait to see what you have in mind for Sugar Snap:)
