Rather than setting resolutions, I am making a list of things I’m looking forward to in 2011. It’s more fun that way, and more realistic too. Why put more pressure on myself. I have the philosophy: Don’t set yourself up to fail; set yourself up to succeed! Of course, I want to keep doing a couple things I did in 2010 that worked out well (like exercising 3-4 days a week). But it’s always nice to go forward with a fresh perspective.
- I have four classes this semester, so I am looking forward to learning more. I will be taking Drawing for Illustration, Advanced Computer Graphics, Concept Development and Digital Photography. Whew, that’s going to keep me busy!
- I would like to do more experimenting with my bag designs. I do love to challenge myself!
- I would really like to develop a collection for my shop that is more coordinated with the seasons. I am a very “in the moment” kind of person, so planning ahead like that could be tough. I think I’m up for it.
- I would like to learn how to make clothes again. I haven’t made any clothing since I was a teenager, when my mom taught me how to sew.
- I would like to offer a couple more tutorials for you.
- I am looking forward to participating in a couple swaps throughout the year.
- I would like to enter a couple more craft shows.
It’s always fun to imagine what the new year is going to bring us. I heard someone say recently that 2011 is the year of living dreams. It should be great fun to expand my horizons and chase a few dreams along the way!
Sounds like 2011 is going to be a great year for you! Living dreams sounds like the way to go!
Wow, really a great perspective! I suppose we do put so much pressure on ourselves to have big resolutions for the new year… even though it’s necessary to think that way. Thanks for sharing!
The year of living dreams!! Well I hope all yours come true. I think you are on the right track on Making a list of things you would like to see and I will agree it is more realistic. I don’t think you will have a problem with anything you try. I’m sure it will be a great year for you.
I also did not set resolutions. I had decided I would work harder to learn my computer and my sewing machine more. I feel that is what I need to do.
Can’t wait for more exciting bags and pics from you. School will keep you busy and I’m really looking to see all the things you learn to do.
These are all wonderful. I love the classes you are taking. I hope I can take some courses soon but until then I’m having to learn on my own which isn’t as good to me. I really want to sew my own clothes too. I’ve been looking online for some sew-a-longs or something but haven’t found anything. 😦 I just want to sew some tunics for me…..and maybe a skirt or something……
I love your list! I am a list person (just ask my poor husband) and goal lists are my favorite! I want to take more classes this year too. Though I’m going back to teaching (in a different and much more relaxed capacity) I think the thing that keeps you sane is learning more! Happy New Year and the best of accomplishment (because it is NOT about luck) to you in 2011!
Sounds like great plans for the new year, Terri!
I’m with you… resolutions are just things that eventually make me feel pressured and guilty when I don’t do them. I prefer to do as you’ve done!
My new blog will reflect that!
And yes, 2011 will be the year of living your dreams (heaven!!) I plan to live all my dreams this year!
❤
I really like your idea of looking forward! Your classes sound challenging but also very interesting. I hope you have a wonderful 2011!
Jennifer 🙂
Beautifully put. I have been jotting down things as they pop into my head because I am very much of a list maker. That list might pop up in the form of a blog post later in the week…
Wow, you’re going to be a graphics genius! I would just like to get my pictures organized….
Fantastic attitude to start the New Year with and I’m sure it will be a year for living your dreams.
Love the cat pictures – don’t they look so contented – dreams and contentment – it’s all you can hope for is it not :0)
Make it happen my friend x
I love your attitude! The classes you’re going to take sound interesting and challenging. I have a “would like to” list myself, so I hope we can both make some of those things happen!
Thanks for the kitty pictures:)
That’s a wonderful way to look at it. I don’t want to make resolutions, but this seems like a good way to “plan out” the year.
Happy New Year Terri!
Hello Terri! I think all your ‘goals’ are very good! I wish I could enjoy some exercise…
