I always feel reenergized and hopeful at the beginning of each new year.
I came up with a few keywords to describe my hopes for 2012:
Focus – I hope to work on one thing at a time.
Fresh – I hope to be more innovative, think outside the box, be different, do different.
Finish – I hope to finish what I started, especially before starting something else.
Instead of coming up with resolutions, I like to list a few things I’m looking forward to in the upcoming year:
Classes – for the Spring semester, I’m registered for Color Theory, Typography, Photography, and Web Design. Then there will be the Summer semester, and the Fall semester. It will be a year’s worth of creative learning, for sure!
Patterns – I’m hoping to develop downloadable sewing patterns to be available in my shop.
Illustrations – I have been dreaming up ideas to illustrate set of paper goods. (already in progress!) There lots of drawing and illustration techniques I want to continue working on, but this idea seemed extra noteworthy.
Design – I still dream of designing a fabric collection. (already in progress!)
Art Journal – I’m excited to work on a new weekly sketchbook/art journal project this year, similar to my Art Card project from 2011.
Books – I’m hoping to read more this year. I have such a big stack of books in my queue right now.
Family – I’m hoping to visit my brother and sister more often. I also want to have more girl days with my mom.
Travel – I’m hoping to be able to take a trip to Las Vegas. A bonus would be a trip to New York City to visit my sister and brother-in-law. (There’s a lot more travel I would like to do, but I also need to be realistic so I’m putting those plans on my bucket list.)
Foodie -I’ve always secretly wanted to be a bit of a foodie, so I want to try new recipes and more posts like this one and this one.
Concerts – I hope to go to at least one rock concert this year.
I think that sounds like a year full of creativity, adventure and good times. What are you looking forward to in 2012?
I think that you have a GREAT LIST. I am excited for you.
Color Theory sounds great. A paper goods line—GOOD for you Terri–that would be fabulous for you!!!
Wow! Sounds like a wonderful year full of creativity, learning and some new experiences! I can’t wait to see what you do with your patterns, your paper goods line, and the fabric! Yay!
Here’s to a year of new adventures!
They are great key words and it certainly sounds like a year packed with creativity and fun for you.
I’ve been enjoying reading on an evening (when I can drag myself away from utube and flickr lol) and also have a big pile of books to read.
I know you are going to love your classes and am looking forward to following your progress both in those and also the other creative challenges you have outlined for yourself.
Like you, I also plan on completing a project before starting another one as it will feel good to have a portfolio of finishes rather than a big list of WIP’s!
Good luck with your patterns (yeay!) fabric designs and papercraft goods – they’ll all be as wonderful as you are! Here’s to 2012!!!
Hi Terri!
Happy New Year! Looks like you are headed for nothing but positive things in 2012. Loved your blog post title moving forward. I chose those words last year to get me going. It worked. So, it’s onward in 2012! Nothing but the best to you. Love your creative spirit!
You have a great start on so many of these things. Go for it!
You’re working on designing a fabric line?! Oh, I want to hear more about that one! Too cool! Make sure you remember me as someone you knew back when!
