I know, it sounds scary! And you might think it looks scary. Or you might say it looks nasty. But trust me, this green monster smoothie is quite tasty!
I can’t remember where I first saw this, maybe on Pinterest. Turns out there’s an entire Green Monster Movement!
Here’s the recipe I made:
1 Cup Almond Milk
1 Container Greek Yogurt – 6 ounces
1 Sliced Frozen Banana
1 Tablespoon Peanut Butter
1 Tablespoon Flax
2+ Cups Spinach
Put all ingredients into a blender and blend. I poured the mix into a martini glass just for fun.
My brother suggested adding some protein powder to give it even more boost. Definitely going to try that next time.
It’s really good??? Hmmm….can you tell I’m skeptical? 🙂 Okay, maybe you can make me one in July and I’ll try it. Haha!
I was REALLY skeptical too when I first saw it. Spinach in a blender? with peanut butter? and greek yogurt? I don’t know what compelled me to try it, but it was so tasty! I think it’s a great combination of flavors and textures. I would be happy to make one for you in July!
I think it looks rather appealing – and the ingredients sound yummy – though i may of had to add a spoonful of honey to sweeten it a bit – honey is after all a very benefical food stuff. It makes me think of spinach soup too, of which I could just fancy a bowl!
Oh yea, Shell, honey is a great idea! I’m going to add that to my recipe next time I make this.
I’ve been looking for a green smoothie recipe…thanks! Are you going to make one every morning?
It looks good to me. I’m not skeptical at all. I’d like to taste it RIGHT NOW.
Thanks for sharing the recipe, Terri.
I just saw this recipe on pinterest too & pinned it in my tasty treats board. I froze the banana this morning but have to get spinach before I can make it. I am definitely adding a vanilla protein powder to give it some bulk & substance. Thanks for confirming that it’s tasty!
Very interesting! Sounds really healthy. I’m going to try it.
I think I was good with it…until the spinach.l Not quite sure about that with the rest of the ingredients…you promise it’s good??
Hello Terri,
Sounds great on a hot day. Thanks for the recipe.
happy days.

Looks good to me…even with the spinach:)
I’ve been having smoothies like this nearly every morning of 2012!
I have had green smoothies before but never with the greek yogurt and almond milk. Question what size is the greek yogurt container? I’m going to try your version.
Adele, I just used an individual serving-size container of greek yogurt, about 6 ounces. Hope you like it!
