Storm Clouds

When your area has storm warnings, do you go outside like we do?

These clouds were swirling, moving fast, and creating bizarre colors in the sky.

I know, I know, we are supposed to stay indoors when the storm warnings go off, and then get ready to hide in the basement if a funnel cloud is spotted. But it was more fun to be outside watching the sky. One of our neighbors came outside and yelled, “It’s the end of the world! Let’s party!”

  • those are really neat clouds!
i remember going outside and look at the storm clouds with my dad when i was little. i still like looking at them. 🙂

    • Oh, yes. Used to love hanging out outside and watching the storms. Kinda miss it — we just don’t have storms here! I’ve heard thunder twice since moving to the Bay Area three years ago, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen lightening here!

  • I love the clouds! I know I would ignore the storm warnings as well and be outside! In fact, if we ever get rain again, I’m going to stop everything and just sit outside and enjoy it!

  • Those look a lot like the pictures we took here in Fitchburg! We never got a drop of rain out of all that!

  • What pretty pictures! We like to go outside, too!!

  • I like to check out the storms until they really get going. After that you can find me inside. 🙂

We have had lots of warnings and watches over this last week and tons of lightning. The lightning kind of freaks me out!

  • Great photos! My Dad always did that while my Mom and five kids huddled in a damp, icky, corner of the basement. My sister would cry because it scared her that Daddy would be blown away. I’m more a watcher, than a huddler, today, but maybe if I was a Mom, I would behave differently…

  • We do the same thing! It’s either watch the clouds, or watch the weatherman watch the clouds, and that’s no fun at all. Great pictures!!

  • wow those clouds are creepy looking. The photos came out great though. 🙂

  • Storm sirens. . .the only siren Chico has is one left over from WWII, it was to alert residents of an impending attack by the other side! I think that would frighten me. . .but the storm looks beautiful!

When I was little, I used to call those Jesus Clouds because I was sure clouds that dramatic were meant to produce some kind of monumental event. Jesus was going to walk right out of them and down to Earth! Come to think of it, my spiritual views have changed lots since then, but I still call them Jesus Clouds!!

  • Great pictures! I love that they’re orange colored! Ours here get such a dark, dark gray. And this time of year come with lots of lightning!

    Thanks for the view!
