A Wonky Star

I have always wanted to try making a wonky block, but I just couldn’t make time in September to join in the wonky log cabin quilt-along. I’ve also been admiring the cool wonky star blocks I see out on flickr. I think I’m drawn to them because they are so whimsical.

I made one block with some of my favorite fabrics, quilted it and attached binding for a mini quilt.

I used this tutorial, which was very easy and quick. I think this might make a fun gift, which can be hung on the wall, used as a hot pad or table decoration. I’m keeping this one!

  1. Aren’t wonky stars a lot of fun! I recently made my first one to send off for the quilts of valor project…and couldn’t believe how much fun it was to make!

  2. I love this. Chocolate Lollipop is always a good choice. I was so excited when I went into my local quilt shop last week. They had a bunch of new bolts from that line which surprised me because I thought they discontinued it.
I had good intentions of joining the wonky cabin quilt a long but I think I’ll just have to wait until we move before signing up for any more commitments. 🙂
