A Wonky Star

I have always wanted to try making a wonky block, but I just couldn’t make time in September to join in the wonky log cabin quilt-along. I’ve also been admiring the cool wonky star blocks I see out on flickr. I think I’m drawn to them because they are so whimsical.

I made one block with some of my favorite fabrics, quilted it and attached binding for a mini quilt.

I used this tutorial, which was very easy and quick. I think this might make a fun gift, which can be hung on the wall, used as a hot pad or table decoration. I’m keeping this one!

  1. Aren’t wonky stars a lot of fun! I recently made my first one to send off for the quilts of valor project…and couldn’t believe how much fun it was to make!

  2. Very nice wonky star and love the fabric also. I made some of these blocks for a row robin swap, unfortunately not for myself yet.

  3. I love this. Chocolate Lollipop is always a good choice. I was so excited when I went into my local quilt shop last week. They had a bunch of new bolts from that line which surprised me because I thought they discontinued it.
I had good intentions of joining the wonky cabin quilt a long but I think I’ll just have to wait until we move before signing up for any more commitments. 🙂
