Bits and Bobs

I did a little shopping last Friday and found some great treasures I wanted to share with you.

First up, I headed to the bookstore to check out a couple magazines I recently discovered.

I really love Art Journaling, published by Stampington, where I find a lot of inspiration for my art cards and illustration projects.

The other magazine I found is called Cloth, published in the UK, full of inspirational ideas for making clothes and home furnishings, as well as reviews of new products, sewing advice, and features about shops, boutiques and designers.

I also found some new shoes! You know me, I do love Chucks, so how could I pass up a pair with a comic strip on the outside and polka dots on the inside!

My final stop was this cute little shop in downtown Madison called Anthology, owned by two creative sisters who fill their shop with fine papers, craft kits, handmade goods, workshops, instruction and inspiration.

I love finding vintage-looking travel paper, so I bought a pad full of vintage maps, air mail paper, vintage tags and signs, and all sorts of other goodies.

They had baskets full of packs of paper pieces, and I fell in love with the pieces in this pack. I don’t have a lot of bits and bops in my stash, so these will be fabulous to incorporate into my art cards and illustration projects.

I also found packs of map pieces, which are hard to find and awesome to have on hand.

It was a great way to spend a Friday morning!

  • Lovely finds! It would be dangerous for me to have Anthology near by 😉 I don’t seem to use those materials but have a habit of collecting them 😉 They will be great for your art cards!

  • Heavens to Betsy you get more done in one week than I get done in a month! I just got home from a conference (that didn’t have wifi-can you imagine?!) and see that you’ve journaled, gardened, shopped, played and I don’t know what else! You are one busy girl!

I am TOTALLY crushing on those Chucks, the polka dots are making me an eensy bit giddy just looking at ’em! Anthology sounds like my kind of shop too-I love making stationary and paper stores are a little like a good sugar high for me 🙂

  • I love your new paper treasures! Your new shoes are a kick too. I’m sure if I had shoes like that the students at my school would notice!

  • Isn’t is so much fun to find new treasures! It’s so refreshing to add new things to our collections to help us enhance our creative side!

Since I am always behind in my reading I will catch up my comments here! lol! I love your garden! Given the hot temperatures that you have been having, it looks really great!

And your postcards are a delight, as usual!

Take care, and enjoy the day!

  • You found some great treasures!! Interested in seeing what cards you incorporate the maps and “Bits and bops” into, in the future.

  • Your paper supplies look great – love vintage looking ephemera!

Sarah is a huge converse fan – will have to show her your new shoes. So fun!

  • Ohhh loving all of your new purchases – they look like really cool paper pads, bits and bobs! I love shopping for stuff like that. Your new chucks are very funky. Enjoy reading those magazines – I look forward to my crafting mag coming every month, love looking at the pictures and getting ideas.

  • Those are some great finds. I didn’t know there was a magazine on art journaling. Cool. I’ll have to look for it. I used to love Stampington magazines when I did a lot of rubber stamping. I am in love with those shoes, too! I haven’t heard of those before.

  • LOVE your shoes!!! comic strip outsides AND polka dot insides? perfect!

  • I can’t decide what I like the most! The shoes are awesome, that Art Journal mag looks really good, and sadly I am a paper hoarder too so I love them as well. 🙂
