Random Thursday, taking time to notice random things around me:
The berries on our crabapple tree are really red and really big right now.
We’re discovering some new bugs in our gardens that are really big. Sorta looks like a baby hummingbird, but moves like a butterfly or bumblebee.
Apparently, we hoard Halloween Oreos as soon as they are available.
Autumn baked goods are quite yummy.
Hope you remember to take the time to stop and notice something around you. Thanks for stopping by.
Terri
My hubby hoards the double stuff Oreos:)
That’s so fun to hear about your hubby, Sara!
I got some pics of the same bug. It is a Sphinx Hummingbird Moth. They move so fast. This was the first year that I noticed them on our hostas. Such a wonderful site!
Looking forward to fall baking! 🙂
Oh my goodness, Brenda, thanks for the tip! How cool to hear you’ve seen the same strange bug. Thanks for stopping by!
Looks like someone already told you those are Sphinx Moths. We always got the late spring, early summer in Colorado. They loved out sage plant.
Thanks, Tiffany. It’s great to hear others are familiar with this strange bug. I used to live in Colorado (Glenwood Springs), but I never saw them. They seem to be attracted to our Phlox.
Beautiful photos. We have hummingbirds who are eating more this season than ever and I can’t figure out why–I fill the container every 48 hours and its always bone dry,
Thanks Cindy. We’ve has hummingbirds throughout the summer too, but I’ve never seen a hummingbird moth like that. Such a crazy creature.
