From My Sketchbook: November Theme

In order to fill up more sketchbooks, which is on my bucket list for 2015, I’m having fun coming up with new drawing prompts, so I’ve been trying to sketch A LOT more lately. One thing I’m doing is a monthly calendar, but instead of using it like a diary, I’m using it to do a daily doodle.

For the month of November, I’m going with a theme centered around things I see in my own neighborhood this time of year, the harvest and gathering, and the quietness of nature.

As you can see, I usually just fill up every square in this grid, rather than just the days of the month. Stay tuned for my progress!

For the month of October, I worked on a theme centered around the spookiness of October. I have to admit that I always have the most fun concepting and illustrating the initial grid with the borders and hand-lettering.

For the month of September, I went with a theme centered around the woods and things you might see and find in the forest, since we usually start hiking again, now that it’s less buggy in the woods around here. It’s one of my favorite subjects to draw!

I’ve never drawn some of these little doodles before, so it was a good challenge, and I’m so happy with how this turned out! Happy drawing!

Pages From My Sketchbook

I can’t believe August is almost over, which means summer is winding down around here. I illustrated a new theme for my sketchbook page of September doodles – the woods – since we will be hiking more again. I’m excited to fill it with doodles of things and creatures you might find in the woods.

For the month of August, I went with a new theme centered around the beach since we made a couple trips to local beaches in August. I really love how this turned out!

I know, the month of August isn’t over yet. I think having a theme got me more excited to keep going, so I ended up finishing this page early. And I filled in each square on my grid, instead of limiting myself to just the days of August.

Stay tuned for the next month of doodles!

Making progress and keeping up with my July doodles!

sketchbook page of july doodles so farAfter I take a picture of any of my drawings, I start to think of other ideas to add, so I’m sure this page will change over the course of the month. I’m also starting to brew ideas on what to do with these daily doodles, so stay tuned. Such a fun challenge each day and each month!
